Abstract

Török Ignác High School in Gödöllő, Hungary is a truly successful grammar school as various high school rankings show but this success can only be maintained and improved if we continuously renew our educational and pedagogical culture. It is important to us that our students learn and we can achieve this by adapting our teaching methods closer to the needs of the students in our school and to the expectations of the society. We recognize that we can achieve our goals by transforming our institution into a modern 21st-century-school. One of the main pillars of our renewal is our effort to incorporate digitalmethods and tools into our pedagogical practice in an intentional and planned way, so that digital pedagogy adds value to the learning process. This process of digital transformation began as a bottom-up initiative in our school after a study trip to England. In this article, we present the process of our school’s digital transformation from the birth of the idea to its current state, to the level of institutional digital transformation. This long process would not have been possible without our digital team, which not only devised a digital transformation strategy but also established a support team to help colleagues, students and parents with the digital transformation. The process has been supported by the continuous feedback we have received through the analysis of data in questionnaire surveys, which has paved the way for further development directions. We have found that the transformed learning environment is inspiring to our students and our questionnaire surveys have confirmed this. In addition, more and more colleagues in our school are taking an interest in digital education, which has opened up a new challenge for us: in the autumn of 2021 our school joined Microsoft’s Innovative Schools Program with the goal of becoming a Microsoft Showcase School.
