The world of artificial intelligence is filled not only with new ideas and opportunities but also with questions and
doubts. “Most of the time, people see only the extremes: they are either afraid of it (e.g., AI gaining self-awareness
or people losing their jobs) or the complete opposite—they believe AI is the ultimate solution to all problems.
Truth be told, the answer lies somewhere between these two views.” The subject of artificial intelligence changes
day by day and as it has become an integral part of the education system, it also raises divisive questions: Should
we use it in lessons? Are children capable of using it properly? Do they understand it? Can we always trust AI? In our project, students will learn the basics of AI as well as its ethical aspects. Through examples (such as its applications, limitations, hallucinations, and environmental pollution), they will gain a deeper understanding of the topic and become capable of participating in projectsthat utilize AI-based tools. Additionally, they will develop the ability to think critically about the use of AI, its advantages and disadvantages, and its impact on education and everyday life. It is crucial to teach children early on how to use AIsafely, effectively, and in a versatile manner, while also emphasising that itsready-made answers are not always correct. Critical thinking must always be a part of the process, both in everyday life and in the digital world, including when dealing with artificial intelligence. Children need to learn when to rely on AI and when not to, as well as how to integrate it into tasks – whether as a tool or as a collaborative partner.
