Abstract

Education for environmental sustainability has become a crucial pedagogical priority in the 21st century. The“From Drop to Ocean” project, developed for 7th-grade students at Kölcsey Ferenc High School, addresses thischallenge through an interdisciplinary and experience-based learning framework. The program integrates biology, chemistry, mathematics, and informatics to deepen students’ understanding of water-related phenomena, includingthe water cycle, photosynthesis, water pollution, and purification methods. By combining scientific inquiry withcreative and digital tools—such as online questionnaires, visualization software, programming (Python), andLEGO robotics—the project strengthens digital competences, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking. Furt-hermore, the involvement of senior students as mentors enhances collaboration, responsibility, and environmentalawareness. The initiative not only enriches scientific knowledge but also contributes to the development of key21st-century skills essential for sustainable citizenship.
